HOW DO I DEVELOP MY CONTENT?

Definitely wine can help you develop your ideas.

The ideas and content you create needs to be compelling and speak to you.

Our suggestion is do what you love and focus on the things you are passionate about.

Lots of people spend time searching for stars when they could get better stories from their inner circle. Be yourself and let it happen naturally.

SHOULD I DO A SOLO CAST OR AN INTERVIEW STYLE RECORDING?

A solo cast is where you are the speaker and telling your point of view without the use of many interviews. The advantage to the SoloCast is that you can get rolling right away. EXAMPLE if you are a dog trainer looking to start a podcast to propel your current brand and services you have two basic options … tell the story from your perspective i.e. SoloCast or use the interview style to tell the story. Podcast Recording Studio can help you determine which route is best for you. The advantage to the SoloCast is that you don’t have to rely on a guest showing up to make the show a reality.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I RECORD AND RELEASE MY PODCAST?

Well that really depends on what you are reporting on and how much time you have to dedicate to your podcast.

Daily - If you run a news podcast or current event podcast, daily would be perfect. examples include Weather, stock reports and podcast based on daily events like traffic reporters etc… Also, if you were to do short and sweet daily life lessons or bible verses these type of daily podcasts work great! Thought for the Day!, Prayer For the Day! Song of The Day! Your Daily Horoscope!

Weekly - If you run a podcast like The Realtor Podcast you may want to check in and let people know what is going on locally and nationally in Real estate. Weekly you could report on open houses in your area, mortgage rates …welcome to The Open House Podcast.I If you report on Live music and Live events like sports you may want to do your weekly Recap…The Sport Recap Podcast or the Weekly Live Music Podcast.

Monthly Podcast - We think this is a great place to start. You can make a goal to do one podcast a month and grow the show over the next 12 months. The monthly podcast is great way to get things going. Magazines Typically publish monthly and this format works well with all business and podcast ideas. In addition, you can work with our team at Podcast Recording Studio a month in advance regarding pre production and planning on the show. This Month in Chicago Podcast coming soon!

Quarterly, Biannual or Annual Podcast - If you are looking to get started but just not sure how much time you can dedicate or just don’t think your content changes more very often you may want to just check in with your audience here and there. This works good for people who want to promote their business and elevate their brand and themselves. You can record these ongoing podcasts very easily and post them to your social media page so that you can recap what happened and where your business is going. The Landscape Podcast - Episode One Getting Ready for Winter, Episode Two - Spring Fever, Episode Three - Summer is Finally Here, Episode Four - The Fall is my Favorite time of the Year.

One Time - Podcast Recording Studio thinks that this is an untapped market. We think this is a great concept for people who want to do something special for their website and social media visitors but don’t really need do change the audio or story frequently. This can propel the brand forward but doesn’t need to really change an example would be The Mount Rush More Tourist Podcast. Explore all the things to do while driving thru South Dakota. This type of podcast can be recorded onetime and the story pretty much always stays the same. The Story of Mount Rushmore Podcast - A walking audio tour for an average tourist…you get the idea. Two Days in New York City Podcast…a walking audio guide to the city that never sleeps. This type of podcast works well for any business…Tell your story well one time and let the listener listen to it from your website or social media sites.

Which ever approach you choose we are here to help you along the way. Contact Podcast Recording Studio for a free pre production interview.

DO I NEED ADVERTISERS TO MAKE MONEY WITH MY PODCAST?

No! There are several ways to make money other than selling ads on your podcasts.

You can use listener supported sites like Patreon, Kick Stater, IndieGoGo, Pledge Music and Artist Share to name a few to generate money for your podcast. Also, think of the people you are interviewing and the products they have that you can sell and promote. In addition, think of your guests as potential customers or revenue generators? WHAT??? Example…if you own a local record store and you run the Vinyl of the Week Podcast, get touring acts to stop in do an in store acoustic performance, do a live exclusive interview and do a podcast with the artist in front of a small live audience. Ask the Bands manager to give you a discount on merchandise, tickets to sell at the event in store, on your website and on the air. Asking for the Artist to sign copies that you can sell is not a bad plan either. Another industry example would be the The Landscape Podcast referenced above…if you are planning out your Fall is my favorite time of the year podcast…try reaching out to the city or park district, local university, out door shopping mall or a large company in your areas to see if they would send someone down to talk on the show about what they do to get ready for the fall? While doing so you establish yourself as the expert. Therefore they most likely will give you a shot at bidding on the winter landscaping or snow removal at their location. The idea is be real, be amazing, establish yourself as an expert and be yourself. Remember there are other ways to make money with your podcast. So no you don’t need to sell ads to make money with your podcast. Keep in mind typical ad rates for podcast are based on downloads. On average at the time of writing this info - ads range as follows for Industry Standard Rates

10-Sec Spot $0 / $10 CPM

30-Sec Spot $0 / $18 CPM

60-Sec Spot $0 / $25 CPM

Industry standard advertising rates for shows with 5000+ listeners

10% Discount

10-Sec Spot $0 / $9 CPM

30-Sec Spot $0 / $16 CPM

60-Sec Spot $0 / $23 CPM

Recommended for shows new to podcast advertising with 2500-4999 listeners

20% Discount

10-Sec Spot $0 / $8 CPM

30-Sec Spot $0 / $14 CPM

60-Sec Spot $0 / $20 CPM

Recommended for shows new to podcast advertising with 1000-2499 listeners

25% Discount

10-Sec Spot $0 / $8 CPM

30-Sec Spot $0 / $14 CPM

60-Sec Spot $0 / $19 CPM

Recommended for shows new to podcast advertising with 500-999 listeners

30% Discount

10-Sec Spot $0 / $7 CPM

30-Sec Spot $0 / $13 CPM

60-Sec Spot $0 / $18 CPM

Recommended for shows new to podcast advertising with 1-499 listeners

So if you have 1000 downloads on an episode and place an ad at 5000 + Rate

10 second ad you could *TRY to Charge 0 to $ 10

18 second ad you could *TRY to Charge 0 to $ 18

60 second ad you could *TRY to charge 0 to $ 25

*TRY implies not as easy as it might appear to be to sell ads in your podcast.

Keep in mind that these ads are based at the top of industry pricing. Ads still need to be sold by someone who takes a commission and also keep in mind you need to pay someone or take your time to record edit and place the adds for you. So divide the rates in 1/2 and do the math.
